Trade mission organized by the HKFF to Russia is considered successful

Trade mission organized by the HKFF and supported by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council held from 2-5 October 2017 is considered successful.

The delegation met with the companies from the Russian fur trade representing all sectors and sizes of the businesses. They thanked all participants of the Round Table discussion including representatives of Russian Tax Service and Russian Customs Service, experts of Russian Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of Russian Fur Breeders Association, President & members of the Russian Fur Union, other unions of the industry, as well as independent fur companies. At the meeting they exchanged useful information & shared view on current market situation.

The meeting also addressed to the chip issue, the delegation understand its government policy and expressed their support. HKFF considers Russia new fur labeling law very positively as it makes the fur market more transparent and improves traceability for the final consumer. But HKFF representatives realized that many medium size and especially small retailers have a lot of difficulties when would like to import garments now. «All of them need to seek agents’ help to organize importation according new regulations and it is not easy to find reliable ones. This situation does affect business between Hong Kong & Russian fur companies. Our delegation expressed our eagerness to help these small companies to get into the new chip system as Russian furriers have been a long time partner of the Hong Kong Fur Industry. The Hong Kong Fur Federation looks forward to continuing our cooperation with Russian partners in the future»– HKFF representatives stated.
