“Fabergé: Legacy of Imperial Russia” Exhibition to be Opened in Hong Kong Heritage Museum

On February 6, 2013 in Hong Kong Heritage Museum the opening ceremony of “Fabergé: Legacy of Imperial Russia” exhibition will be held and coincided to the 400th anniversary of the Romanov Dynasty. The exhibition is organized by the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Preserve “Moscow Kremlin”, Hong Kong Heritage Museum, Fersman Mineralogical Museum with the support of Russia – Hong Kong Business Association.

The unique collection of the renowned Russian Firm of Carl Faberge's artworks from Moscow Kremlin Museums and Fersman Mineralogical Museum collections will be displayed at the “Fabergé: Legacy of Imperial Russia” exhibition. Visitors will take a look at different styles and genres, representing jewellery and lapidary's art of the Russian Empire in the period of flourishing – at the turn of the XIX-XXth centuries: religious items and memorabilia, pieces of jewellery and tableware, articles of coloured stones, as well as the Faberge masterpieces – precious Easter eggs, executed for the last two Russian Empresses.

The opening ceremony of the “Fabergé: Legacy of Imperial Russia” exhibition will be attended by Consul General of the Russian Federation in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the PRC Mr Vladimir Kalinin, Secretary for Home Affairs of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government Mr Tsang Tak-sing, Director of Leisure and Cultural Services of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government Mrs Betty Fung Ching Suk-yee.

The Moscow Kremlin Museums with its unique collection hold a specific place in global cultural communications and play a role of some kind of cultural bridge. Beyond a shadow of a doubt, the exhibition of Carl Faberge will draw extensive public attention and will not only become a high-profile event in the cultural life of Hong Kong but will also contribute to further development of good-neighborliness between our nations”, - stated in his welcome speech on the occasion of the exhibition’s opening Ivan Polyakov, Russia – Hong Kong Business Association Chairman.

“Fabergé: Legacy of Imperial Russia” exhibition will take place at Hong Kong Heritage Museum till April 29, 2013.
